The Battle of Edington

In Which Alfred the Great Forms a Militia, Defeats the Viking Menace, and Preserves a Saxon England for Years to come.

The vikings are all wearing horned helmets to make them easily identifiable.
This would have been happening on a slope with the vikings on the top of the hill, but I forgot to put that in.
Actually very little is known about this battle. The formation of the Saxons is completely fabricated

Alfred the great is in the center of the Saxons with a crown.

  1. That wedge shaped formation is a good choice: legend has it that Odin taught the "boar's snout" to the Vikings, so having Alfred attack his enemies using their tactics is good. (Of course, he could be copying the Roman wedge as well. . . .)
